About

rllifestyles.com is a practical homeowner guide for San Diego residents.

We cover the full range of problems that come with owning or renting a home in San Diego — from moisture and mold inside the house to drainage, stucco, roofing, and yard issues outside. If it affects your property and it’s specific to how San Diego is built, where it sits, and how the climate works here, it belongs on this site.

Who writes here

My name is Martin Lorenz. I’ve owned property in San Diego for 7 years and have dealt firsthand with the problems that come with it: coastal humidity that shows up as closet mold, stucco that hides water damage for months, hillside drainage that fails the first real rain of the year, and the kind of termite activity that’s just part of living here.

I’m not a contractor and I’m not trying to sell you a service. I write from the perspective of a homeowner who has made mistakes, hired the wrong people, and eventually learned what questions to ask and what to look for before calling anyone.

Everything on this site is cross-checked against current building codes, EPA guidance, IICRC standards, and California-specific regulations where relevant.

How articles are written

Every guide starts with a real problem — something that comes up repeatedly in San Diego homes. We explain what causes it, how to assess the severity yourself, what you can fix without calling anyone, and when it makes sense to hire a licensed professional.

We don’t rate contractors, recommend specific brands for commission, or write scare content to drive service calls. When we link to a professional directory or affiliate resource, we say so clearly.

Limitations

This site provides general homeowner education, not professional advice for your specific property. San Diego homes vary significantly by age, construction type, neighborhood, and proximity to the coast. When in doubt — especially for structural, electrical, or mold issues — consult a licensed professional.
